Hi, my name is Peter, and I would like to apply for a public relations position in the development team for the upcoming Planetstorm title. I'am currently at the end of my second year studying Psychology at University, a project like this would be a great addition to my portfolio, especially as I plan on moving into this industry after graduation. Turn 20 on the 14th of May.
Why would we need a PR guy? Developers make games, but for games to be successful and reach the full potential that their developers want, they need players to buy and play them. The more players they get, the more funding, the more enjoyment. However, organising media to be released to the public (especially before release) is a difficult and time-consuming affair, one which your code-monkeys and 3d artists just don't have the resources for, especially when they have so much actual development work to do. What can I bring to the team? I have experience in video production (check out my youtube channel here (though please note I pnly started seriously around a month ago) http://www.youtube.com/user/RetepThe...y?feature=mhee), event organisation, the managing of "sneak previews" before game releases, the time and dedication to rapidly expand your playerbase by utilising a media based campaign to increase excitement and get Planetstorm on everyone's lips. I have experience in interviews, being on camera (I once attended a function in number 10 downing street), and frankly I love the look of your game and want it to be a success. My previous work? I handled the media side of the mod for Mount & Blade Warband "Mount & Musket", which largely due to my efforts in increasing its playerbase was successful enough to develop into its own game "Napoleonic Wars", which I helped in a minor role with advertising ideas and sneakpeaks. I occasionally made scenes for the mod, though never seriously. I have beta tested many titles, including Age of Conan, Starfarer, Overgrown, Mount & Blade Warband, Salem, and more, and would happily contribute in this way if needed. Every team I have been in has found my ideas to be original and helpful, for instance it was my drive and putting people in touch with one another that led to Warbands server limit to be raised from 64 to 250, enabling the huge scale battles which have made its name. Example? Well my first suggestion, would be to develop a video, preferably an interview with a developer, explaining the basics, what Planetstorm is, why it is different, and showcasing some gameplay, which I can use to kickstart a media campaign of sneak previews and teasers to work on public hype and expand the playerbase. Interested? Feel free to drop me an email with any suggestions or questions about my application. Thank you for your time. Peter Last edited by Peter; 05-10-2012 at 12:18 PM. |

thankyou for your interest, however we have our own arrangements in place, dormant like a buried ancient warmachine, ready to rise earth-shaking from the dust and crush all onlookers when the time is propitious.
timing is critical, and one of the factors is the ability to show a complete and working game. hype is very damaging without anything to back it up. coughOrioncough.

I figured as much, still thought it would be worth a try! I assumed that you would have something to show by now, which was why I applied now.
However, could I ask to be let in on a beta if there is one, with the intention of doing a gameplay review video? |
