Post Gameplay : A Mod Defining Question

I have a pretty pertinent questions pertaining to how the flow of intergalatic battles will translate into infantry and ground vehicle based warfare.

Is the transition seamless? Do concurrent space battles parallel with ground battles? This would be an amazing feature... imagine the battle on the ground has gone awry, so you call in for air support and a massive cruiser swoops down from the sky glassing the battlefield below...

Can we expect such epicness? Or are space battles divided from ground warfare on a map by map basis?

Unfortunately no, due to engine and gameplay related limitations.

If this mod was an mmofps/rts or single player that would be possible, but given that it's multiplayer, with limited map areas/player count, that kind of seamless transitions just won't fit into the gameplay. :(

However, mr negative oblivion, what we DO hope to impliment is a feature where performance in one map will have repercussions in the next map. Eg, if your team wins the 'space map' of the pair, then they might have additional air support, or orbital bombardments they can call down in the 'land map'. It may even alter which map loads next to maintain a 'story'. It remains to be seen, but that is the kind of thing we've been bouncing around for a while so that there is at least some continuity.

But of course, my blue friend. :D I was only referring to totally seamless transitions (as in the ability to move back and forth between maps). There's still what Jetfire said, if that is what you meant. :)

and i think it's not possible to get out of the space to start an fight on the ground. There will be gravity that will cause you to crash?

Yeah I don't like this idea.

I think space and land should remain separate, there are just too many problems that would arise and priorities are needed elsewhere.

However, if you do decide to make them relate to each other try to think of Star Wars Battlefront II where its almost a campaign (that seems both possible and epic)
